Command is needed for a capital ship to operate. Support is typically used to operate certain equipment, perform certain special abilities (like the current reinforcement abilities), or provide a stat boost. Ships should have different crew slots: pilot (all ships have this), astromech (some ships have this), gunner(s) (some ships have this), support (some ships have this), command (only capital ships have this). This means that ships should have different gear, stats, and abilities independent of crew gear, stats, and abilities. Fleet selection should give me the ability to customize everything, from the crew and gear loadout to the look and feel. You may need to adjust payouts and rewards accordingly, or simply change the level of fleet store.Ĭhanging the ship and combat system will be a bigger deal. It should be available shortly after players are taught how ground combat works, instead of this 20+ level grind. I suggest first lowering the minimum entry bar for space combat. Right now, I see a little of the first but not so much the next two. Perhaps the three most common defining characteristics that give them replayability are: the ability to fly as any of my favorite on screen heroes or villains, the ability to fly as myself and insert myself into the story alongside my favorite characters, and the ability to change the battle into any 'What If?' scenario I can dream up. So why don't we get to fight in space until level 60 or 65? Also, where are our trusty astromech droids, who have shown time and again how they can turn the tide of battle? Why does ship combat feel like a skin of ground combat? Wedge was awesome in space, but never did I see him have to wield a blaster on the ground and be good at it in order to fly an X-Wing (furthermore, Poe was terrible on the ground).Ĭoming from a long line of Star Wars games, from the very first X-Wing through Battlefront 2, we've seen and played in skirmishes as well as major fleet actions. Both Luke and Anakin were flying since they were young nobodies. The very first Star Wars (A New Hope as it's now known) starts with a space battle. Yet I see very little love for space here. Star Wars is perhaps most well known for two things: the Force, and epic space battles (like Return of the Jedi). Also, if you want to take a look at this package, visit DAZ 3D here and check out the fleet bundle.I'm a bit disappointed with how space combat and ships are handled in this game. Like this video and find it useful? Share with your friends and comment below. Overall, the package has some amazing value, and if you are thinking of getting this, I highly recommend it. I give some examples of that in the video. It’s quite easy to quickly populate the scene with lots of ships, lasers and create a hectic scenario.Ī small drawback of the package is that it doesn’t include any lighting or star backgrounds. The latter looks a little bit too much of a cone effect, rather than real engine, but still, it’s a cool feature. You can also change the color of the lasers and engines, and adjust how to engine exhaust looks like with stretching. But other than that, the texture quality is excellent, especially on the smaller fighter.įor each of the ships, there are several hulls presets, from black to bright, and also pre-made laser beams that can be changed using pose icons. When going very close with the camera, some textures lose detail and look fuzzy. While the smaller fighter ship looks the most detailed of the bunch, the two corvettes have a little copy and paste feel throughout. The big capital ship looks amazing and works well for close ups too. The latter can be loaded as individual meteor rocks, or as groups of rocks. You’ve got all the 9 planets, like Earth, Jupiter, Mars and also the moon plus meteor rocks. So, naturally, I was drawn to Polish’s Space Battle Fleet Bundle for DAZ Studio, featuring 4 ships and a solar system with planets and all. You know, there’s something special about sci-fi… How the ships look like… All the metal just “floating” in zero gravity… The mystery around it… The fact that most of it aren’t even real (yet)… Ever since I was a little kid, I had this huge fascination with sci-fi.
